NAUGATUCK — The upcoming Naugatuck Summer Festival will round out a full year of festivals in the borough.

The summer festival is Saturday along Church Street from 4 to 10 p.m. The rain date is Sunday.

This festival is the fourth one in Mayor N. Warren “Pete” Hess’ series of downtown festivals.

The festivals started last September with the fall festival and continued in December with the winter festival and in May with a spring festival.

“We receive an extremely large amount of good input from the public indicating they like them,” said Hess about the festivals.

Hess said the borough tries to make each festival unique so people will continue to come and see what is going on downtown. The highlight of the summer festival will be a fireworks show, he said.

The fireworks show is set to start 9:45 p.m. and cap the festival. The festival will also feature live music, an outdoor car show, a giant obstacle course for children, and craft and food vendors.

“This will be a rock’em sock’em downtown party capped off with fireworks,” Hess said.
