Leon Malyszko

SEYMOUR — Leon Malyszko, 87, beloved husband of Marianna Zaniewski Malyszko of Seymour, died peacefully on May 25, 2017 at the Glendale Center, Naugatuck, surrounded by his family. Born in Bity Kamien, Poland on May 1, 1930, he was the son of the late Antoni and Stefania Sienko Malyszko.

Mr. Malyszko served as a medic in the Polish Army and was a longtime resident of Seymour. He worked as a machinist for the former Bridgeport Machine Co. for over 30 years, until the time of his retirement. Mr. Malyszko served as an usher for many years at St. Michael Church and enjoyed gardening and working on home improvement projects.

In addition to his wife of 54 years, he is survived by his devoted sons, Richard (Lori Kessler) Malyszko of Middlebury and Gregory (Roxie) Malyszko of Oxford; cherished grandchildren, Stephanie (Dan) Kiley of Naugatuck, Samantha (Chris) Paecht of Naugatuck, Sandra Malyszko of Naugatuck and Gregory Malyszko Jr. of Oxford; a great-grandson, Logan Ryan Testone of Naugatuck; a sister, Irena Jormalowicz of Poland; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Stanislawa Dzienisik; and brothers, Marian and Richard Malyszko.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 9 a.m. from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Michael Church, 75 Derby Ave., Derby. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m.
