Chip Aldrich Memorial Scholarship

Verne ‘Chip’ Aldrich Jr.

NAUGATUCK — Naugatuck High School is accepting applications for the Chip Aldrich Memorial Scholarship.

Aldrich was a special education teacher in the district from 1990 to 2016. He was also the assistive technology consultant.

The scholarship is offered to a Naugatuck High senior with a documented learning disability. This award is open to a student who has worked hard to overcome the effects of their disability. The recipient must be pursuing higher education at a college, trade or technical school.

Applicants are asked to submit a 250 to 500 word essay describing their academic ambitions and how this award will help achieve them as well as a letter of recommendation from a resource teacher with whom they have worked with throughout their high school career.

Interested students should contact Linda Barbieri in the guidance office at 203-720-5404 for an application. The deadline to apply is May 1.

Donald B. Wilbur Scholarship

MIDDLETOWN — Liberty Bank is seeking applications for the 2017 Donald B. Wilbur Scholarship.

The $1,000 scholarship will be presented to a graduating high school senior who is enrolling in an accredited college, university, or other institution of higher education with the goal of majoring in engineering or a technology-related field.

Applicants must be graduating from a high school in a town served by Liberty Bank. The towns served by the bank include Beacon Falls and Naugatuck.
