Police investigating bomb threat at supermarket

NAUGATUCK — Police are investigating a bomb threat that was called into the Stop & Shop on Rubber Avenue on Sunday afternoon.

Police officers and firefighters responded to the supermarket at 727 Rubber Ave. shortly before 5:30 p.m. after a bomb threat was called into the store, police said. The store was evacuated, and the Connecticut State Police bomb squad swept and cleared the building. The store reopened nearly two hours after the threat was reported, police said.

Police are investigating the origin of the threat. No further information was available as of this post.
