NAUGATUCK — John E. Zbikowski, 91, a lifelong resident of Naugatuck and beloved husband of Phyllis (Evon) Zbikowsk of 50 years, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017 at Beacon Brook Health Care. John was born on Sept. 21, 1925 in Waterbury, son of the late John and Regina (Czarnecki) Zbikowski.
John was a graduate of Prospect Grammar School, Naugatuck High School and Waterbury State Technical Institute. He worked as a foreman for 45 years at Bristol Babcock and was a member of the Quarter Century Club, past president of the Foreman’s Association, former junior achievement advisor and 50 year member of the Union City Polish American Club, where he served as financial secretary and received “Man of the Year” in 1979. John was also an avid golfer.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck, to Saint Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, in Naugatuck for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.
