SANDY HOOK — Alexander (Al) John Danka Jr., 64, of Sandy Hook, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Feb. 14, 2017. Al, or known to some as Rocky, was born in Bridgeport on Feb. 5, 1953 to Alexander and Harriett Danka, both of whom predeceased him, his mother passing away just days before.

Al was an incredibly talented automotive technician, most recently managing his own shop, Affordable Auto Body, with his son-in-law. In his spare time, he enjoyed visiting with family and friends who appreciated his unique humor, genuine laugh, and curious smile.

Some of Al’s favorite hobbies were fishing, spending time at the gun range, tinkering with his many ongoing projects and spending time with his four legged friends. Al enjoyed and appreciated the simple things in life. He was the type of man who would give you the shirt off his back. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Along with his dedicated wife, Donna, Al is survived by his children, Alexander Danka III and his wife, Trisha, Kimberly McIntosh and her husband, Jamie, Jason Danka and his fiancée, Laura Chinigo, Melissa Danka and her fiancée, Rob Door, Danielle Danka, Michael Sagnelli and David Witkowski; and his grandchildren, Michael, Stephanie and Melanie Danka, Kayla Gill, Emma and Jamie McIntosh Jr., Alyssa Danka, and Kaedince and Jacob Danka. Al’s first great-grandchild, Julian, is expected this March.

The family will receive friends to honor both Al and his mother, Harriett, on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017 from 1 to 4 p.m. (with a service at 3 p.m.) at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St. (Route 67, across from Klarides Village), Seymour.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made in Al’s or Harriett’s name to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 E. Ohio St., Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60611.
