Firefighters, park department collecting toys

NAUGATUCK — Naugatuck Firefighters Union Local 1219 and the Park and Recreation Department are collecting toys to help children in the borough have a merrier Christmas.

Donations of new, unwrapped toys can be dropped off in the lobby of fire headquarters at 41 Maple St. until Christmas. The union is also hosting a toy drive Dec. 10 from 10 a.m.to 3 p.m. at Walmart, 1100 New Haven Road.

The Park and Recreation Department is collecting new, unwrapped toys for all ages for the United Way of Naugatuck and Beacon Falls’ annual toy drive. Toys are being collected during the department’s Santa’s Village, which runs Dec. 10 and 11 and Dec. 16 through Dec. 23 from 5:30 to 7:30 at 258 Rubber Ave. Donations can also be dropped off at the department during regular business hours.
