NAUGATUCK — Hertha S. Koslosky, 101, was called home to the Lord on Oct. 2, 2016.

Hertha was born in Union City at the home of her parents, the late Emil and Julia (Cabel) Koslosky, and she was a lifelong Naugatuck resident. A woman of great faith, she was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Naugatuck. Hertha was a retiree of Uniroyal, where she worked for many years. Hertha enjoyed traveling and visited Cuba in the 1950s, drove cross country to the Seattle World’s Fair in 1962 and enjoyed driving throughout New England and Pennsylvania to visit landmarks and to view the fall foliage. She loved to host Christmas celebrations and did so for many decades. Her greatest joy however, was spending time with her large family, who marveled at her memory, drew strength from her faith and were grateful for her generosity. She especially loved visits from the youngest of her family, some of whom were a century younger.

She is survived by her sister, Martha Koslosky; nieces and nephews, Sandra Mickewicz, Richard Reynolds, Roxana Duncan, Noela Couture, Melissa Vanase, Mark Koslosky and Kimberly Shugdinis, 18 great-nieces and nephews and nine great-great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Hertha was predeceased by her brothers, Robert O. and Herbert A. Koslosky; and her sister, Paula Koslosky.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 350 Millville Ave., Naugatuck. Family and friends may call from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, Naugatuck. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123, by phone at 800-227-2345 or online at www.cancer.org.
