SIMSBURY — Helen C. (Adams) Rowell, 79, of Simsbury, beloved wife of Richard M. Rowell, died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, after a long illness, at her home with her family at her side.

She was born Feb. 19, 1937, in the Bronx, N.Y., daughter of the late Hugh Charles and Helen Rita (Carr) Adams, and had lived in Naugatuck for many years prior to moving to Simsbury. Mrs. Rowell was a loan coordinator for Naugatuck Valley Savings and Loan for many years prior to her retirement. Helen was a member of St. Francis Church in Naugatuck, a past president of the Naugatuck Council of Catholic Women, and was on the Board at Belden Forest Court in Simsbury. She enjoyed reading, cooking and baking, sewing, crafting and taking trips to the Casino.

In addition to her husband of 53 years, she is survived by her two daughters, Catherine Casper and her husband, Daniel, of Simsbury, and Suzanne Westhaver and her husband, Richard, of Naugatuck; her sister, Barbara Rackison of Trenton, N.J.; her grandchildren, Jamie Westhaver of Naugatuck, and Gary, Jack and Nick Casper of Simsbury; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Janet Marie Adams, her brother-in-law, Russell Rackison, and a niece, Tracy Rackison.

A memorial service will be celebrated at noon on Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Simsbury United Methodist Church in Simsbury. The family will receive friends at church prior to the memorial, from 10 a.m. to noon.
