HARTFORD — The State Elections Enforcement Commission has approved a public campaign grant under the Citizens’ Election Program for state House candidate Scott Flaherty.

Flaherty, a Democrat from Oxford, is challenging state Rep. David Labriola, R-Oxford, in the 131th District, which represents Oxford and portions of Naugatuck and Southbury.

To qualify for the campaign financing through the voluntary program state representative candidates have to raise $5,000 from at least 150 donors that reside within their district. State senate candidates have to raise $15,000 from at least 300 individuals residing in their district.  Candidates can only accept contributions up to $100 and can’t accept money from state contractors or political action committees.

General election grants are $28,150 for state representative candidates and $95,710 for state senate candidates. For more information, visit seec.compliance@ct.gov.
