NAUGATUCK — A public forum on opioid abuse and addiction will be held Sept. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Naugatuck High School.

State representatives Rosa Rebimbas, R-Naugatuck, and David Labriola, R-Oxford, are hosting the forum with state senators Joe Crisco, D-Woodbridge, and Joan Hartley, D-Waterbury.

The forum is being held in light of increased opioid use, abuse and deaths related to these drugs statewide. More than 700 deaths were attributed to drug overdoses in 2015, according to the Office of the Medical Examiner.

Addiction specialists, local prosecutors, medical personnel, and police and community leaders will discuss the various aspects of addiction and recovery, and answer questions from the public at the forum.
