NAUGATUCK — Arthur C. Gliford, Sr., 76, of Naugatuck died Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Vitas Hospice at St. Mary’s Hospital after a five-year battle with Melanoma.

Arthur was born May 22, 1940 in Derby, the son of Carl R. and Ruth (Cook) Gliford. Arthur graduated Seymour High School, Class of 1958. He was a truckologist for 25 years for New Penn Motor Express, previously with Murtha Enterprises, Naugatuck, and Kerite Co. of Seymour. He was married to Dot Gliford for over 30 years. He loved his yard work, cruises, and family gatherings.

Survivors include his wife Dot; daughter, Tari Lavorgna (John); sons, John Gliford (Francine), Arthur Gliford Jr. (Gloria), Rich Zavednak (Dawn), Jim Zavednak (Val); nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Carl Gliford (Mary Jane), and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, Vitas Unit, the ER staff and all the staff at River Glen in Southbury for their very kind care given to Art and his wife. Thank you all.

Calling hours will be Saturday, June 11, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Munson Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main St. N., Southbury, with a funeral service at 2 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
