Committee hosting POW/MIA vigil

NAUGATUCK — The Naugatuck POW/MIA Committee will sponsor a POW/MIA vigil at the Naugatuck Green from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The vigil is presented by the Connecticut Vietnam Veterans Committee of Milford and West Haven.

During the vigil, individual volunteers will act as prisoners of war and be placed in one of two cages for one hour, then released to a welcoming home ceremony.

Marine Corps veteran Gil Simmons, the chief meteorologist for News 8 Connecticut, and Doris Maitland, sister of Waterbury POW/MIA Andre Guillet, will be speaking at 3:15 p.m. during the closing ceremony.
