NAUGATUCK — Janet Phillips White, 76, the wife of James B. White, died peacefully on Friday, April 29, 2016 at her home with her family by her side.

Janet was born in Waterbury, on Dec. 26, 1939, the daughter of the late Raymond and Mae (Ash) Phillips, and was a lifelong Naugatuck resident. Janet attended St. Francis School, Naugatuck High School and Becker Junior College. She had a rewarding career in banking, working at Naugatuck Savings Bank, Colonial Bank and Trust and retiring from Bank Boston CT as a customer service representative. Janet and Jim enjoyed several years traveling the eastern seaboard from Maine to Florida in their RV; Jim as the pilot and Jan as the co-pilot and navigator. Jan was a lifelong faithful parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church, where for several years she enjoyed singing with the adult choir. She loved her home, caring for her plants, her flowers, and her cats and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to Jim, her devoted husband of 54 years, Jan is survived by her loving children, James B. White, Jr. and his wife Joan of Southington; her daughter, Jennifer Hannigan and her husband Todd of Warrington, Pa.; her three adored grandchildren, Courtney Paige Hannigan, Camryn Nicole Hannigan and Conor James White; her loving brother, Robert J. Phillips and his wife Nancy of Wethersfield, and several nieces and nephews.

Jan’s family would like to sincerely thank the nurses and caregivers at Hartford Healthcare at Home for the wonderful care they provided.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Entombment will follow in Mount Olivet Mausoleum, Watertown. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
