WATERBURY — Mr. Stephen Ward Hallaway, Jr., 91, of Waterbury, formerly of Prospect, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 22, 2016. He was the husband, for 55 years, of the late Lorraine V. (Leahy) Hallaway.

Mr. Hallaway was born in Waterbury on July 21, 1924, a son of the late Stephen Ward Hallaway, Sr. and the late Elise (Loucks) Hallaway. He was retired from Traver Electric where he had worked as an electrical troubleshooter for many years. He was a past member of the Boys Club and enjoyed going to tag sales and flea markets and spending time with his family.

Mr. Hallaway proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.

Mr. Hallaway is survived by two daughters, Katherine Alberto of Winsted and Patricia Atwood and her husband Edward of Watertown; two sons, Thomas Hallaway and his wife Mary of Wolcott and John Hallaway and his wife Dori of Prospect; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Langdon Hallaway; and a son-in-law, Joseph Alberto.

Mr. Hallaway’s family would like to thank The Cheshire House and Seasons Hospice for the loving care that the provided to Stephen.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, March 26, 2016 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial with full military honors will be in New Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterbury.
