OXFORD — Hollis Schenck, 90, the husband of Carol J. (Gilchrist) Schenck, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Beacon Brook Health Care Center in Naugatuck.

Hollis was born on June 30, 1925 in Jerusalem, N.Y., a son of the late Charles and Ida Edith (Seuffert) Schenck and had been an Oxford resident for most of his life. Hollis was a World War II United States Army veteran and was a member of the V.F.W. Crusader Post 1946 in Naugatuck. He was a retired employee of the chemical division of Uniroyal, Inc., and he was a member of the Oxford Center Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his wife, Hollis is survived by his son, Gene Schenck and his wife Barbara Schenck; his daughter, Judy Schenck; his daughter, Nancy Barnes and her husband Gale Barnes; his daughter, Janice Villalba and her husband Larry Villalba; his 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and his sister, Elleen Brewer. In addition to his parents, Mr. Schenck was predeceased by his sons, Gary Schenck and Jerry Schenck and his brother, Loren Schenck.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Southford Cemetery, 5 Hawley Road, Oxford. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
