PROSPECT — Mr. Brian David “Uncle Brian” Cavanaugh, 56, of Prospect, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2016 due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

Mr. Cavanaugh was born April 12, 1959 in Waterbury, a son of Neil and Ann (Moriarty) Cavanaugh of Prospect.

He was employed by the City of Waterbury, Department of Education as a painter.

Brian was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church, he was a true Catholic and a devout Christian. Brian was a gentle soul, devoted son, brother uncle and godfather. He was deeply proud of his Irish heritage and enjoyed studying both Irish history and American History during the Civil War era.

Brian also was a loyal Red Sox, Patriots and UConn fan. He will be missed by his dog Shiloh.

Besides his parents Brian is survived by his brother, Kevin and his wife Mary Kay of Washington; his half-brother, Drew Cavanaugh of Waterbury; two nieces; Kelly and Meaghan; and two nephews, Matthew and Daniel, and many aunts, uncles and cousins, who he enjoyed spending time with.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect is in charge of the arrangements.
