NAUGATUCK — Maureen Patricia (Braziel) Webb, 88, wife of Edmund N. Webb, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 at the VITAS Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Ms. Webb was born in Waterbury, on July 6, 1927, daughter of the late James J. and Mary (Coen) Braziel. As a third-generation Naugatuck resident Maureen graduated from St. Francis Grammar School, Sacred Heart High School, and attended Post College. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Union City. She was employed for nine years in the purchasing department of Naugatuck Chemical where she met her husband Edmund; and later retired from the Naugatuck Board of Education after 29 years as secretary at Salem School. Maureen loved her job at Salem and the children and families she met through the years.

She was proud of her family’s contribution to military service, which crossed generations and branches. She always honored the flag of the United States. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 17 since 1945, where she held the office of secretary many years ago. She was a member of the Naugatuck Historical Society. Maureen enjoyed spending time with her family and spending leisure time on Cape Cod.

Besides her husband of 59 years, she is survived by her daughters, Sharon of Vernon, Janet; her son and daughter-in-law Stephen and Lisa; grandsons, Stephen and Kyle; sisters-in-law Eleanor (John) and Ruth (William) Braziel, all of Naugatuck. Her Irish eyes will be smiling when she is greeted in heaven by family members who predeceased her and she missed dearly; including brothers, James, John (Eleanor) William (Ruth); sister, Frances; special aunts, Irene and Genevieve Coen; and cousin/lifelong friend, Rosemary (Coen) Neary. She also leaves behind to grieve her loss cousins, several nieces and nephews, and faithful grand-dog Chloe.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck, to St. Mary’s Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday evening from 4 to 7 p.m.
