NAUGATUCK — Mr. William John Leary, 62, of Naugatuck, passed away Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016 in the VITAS Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Barbara (Leidemer) Leary.

Mr. Leary was born Sept. 9, 1953 in Waterbury, a son of the late Thomas and Evelyn (Cockcroft) Leary. He was employed as an occupational therapist with the Bethel VNA, was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Naugatuck, a member AOTA and enjoyed reading.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Leary is survived by a sister, Maureen Taylor of Naugatuck and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Leary was predeceased by a sister, JoAnn Leary of Naugatuck and two brothers, Thomas Leary of Naugatuck and John Leary of Simsbury.

Mr. Leary’s family would like to thank the staff of the VITAS unit at St. Mary’s Hospital and Dr. Jega for the Compassionate care that they provided.

Mr. Leary’s funeral will be held on Friday, Jan. 15, 2016 at 10:15 a.m. from the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck, for a mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 9 to 10:15 a.m.
