PROSPECT — Mrs. Susan J. (Boruch) LaRiviere, 59, of Prospect died peacefully on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2015 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Robert F. LaRiviere, Sr.

Mrs. LaRiviere was born in Derby on June 19, 1956, a daughter of Eleanor C. Boruch of Prospect and the late Joseph A. Boruch, Sr. She attended Prospect elementary schools, Waterbury Catholic High and Mattatuck Community College. During her early years she was an accountant at Colonial Bank and Cheshire Academy and for a time was owner of JB Tool Sales. Until her hospitalization she worked as an educator at the Institute for American Indian Studies in Washington, Conn. She was a communicant of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church of Prospect. She was artistic and her hobbies included traveling, shopping at tag sales, and doing crossword puzzles.

In addition to her husband and mother, Mrs. LaRiviere is survived by a daughter, Jenna R. LaRiviere of Prospect; a sister, Veronica E. Trombley and her husband Jay, of Colchester; a brother, Joseph A. Boruch, Jr. and his wife Ann Marie of Waterbury, and a nephew, Joseph A. Boruch III and his wife Varvara.

Mrs. LaRiviere’s funeral will be held on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. from the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect, to St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect for a mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m.
