NAUGATUCK — Lillian (Farina) Swierbitowicz, 98, wife of the late Joseph John Swierbitowicz, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015, at Glendale Center in Naugatuck.

Lillian was born on Feb. 4, 1917, in Brooklyn, N.Y., a daughter of the late Luigi and Anna (Canava) Farina, and lived most of her life in Naugatuck. Lillian was a graduate of Post Junior College and had worked until her retirement as a licensed practical nurse. Lillian proudly served her country during World War II as a U.S. Navy WAVE.

Lillian is survived by her son, Robert Louis Swierbitowicz and his wife Marita; her daughter, Nancy Hollis; her grandchildren, William, Robert, and Ronald Swierbitowicz, her great-grandchildren, Shane, Audrey, Joseph and Grace Swierbitowicz; her sister, Margaret Strenger and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Lillian was predeceased by her son, Joseph John Swierbitowicz and her six sisters and two brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. There are no calling hours and burial will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave.
