PROSPECT — Mrs. Joan (Grickis) Thompson, 80, of Prospect, died unexpectedly on Friday, Dec. 4, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. She was the devoted wife, for 59 years, of Joseph F. Thompson.

Mrs. Thompson was born in Waterbury on March 3, 1935, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Gismondi) Grickis. She attended Hopeville School and was a graduate of Wilby High School. She was retired from the Bristol Company where she had worked in the mail room for many years, was a communicant of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Prospect for 45 years and belonged to the Ministry of Agape in Bridgeport for 35 years.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Thompson is survived by her loving family, daughter, Lisa Thompson of Waterbury; grandchildren, Jessica, Michelle, Rebecca, Anthony, Christina, Sam and Chrystal, 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Anthony of Pennsylvania; a brother, Joseph Grickis of Maine, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Thompson’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015 at 9 a.m. from the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect to St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect for a mass at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m.
