DUNMORE, Pa. — Helen E. DiVizio Przybylka, 97, of Dunmore, passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 19 a few weeks before her 98th birthday and now joins her husband Jake with the Lord. She was the widow of John “Jake” Przybylka, who died Jan. 20 1988.
Born in Dunmore Jan. 10, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Biagio and Elizabeth Morlino DiVizio, she was a 1935 graduate of Dunmore High School, which was located on Apple Street at that time. This was her 80th year anniversary. She was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore. Helen had worked at Brooks pants factory for 15 years. She married Jake in April 1948 and moved to Connecticut in 1950. Helen worked at U.S. Rubber/Uniroyal Rubber in Naugatuck, Conn., for 30 years. Helen spent her adult life in Naugatuck and loved Connecticut. She was a lifetime member and founder of the Polish Club Naugatuck/Union City Connecticut and until recently would still visit the club for various functions in the summer and winter.
Helen was a great cook and baker and enjoyed knitting and crocheting in her spare time. She was kind, good natured woman, willing to help anybody at any time, and a terrific aunt who will be missed dearly.
A special thanks to her nieces Henia Przybylka Albeck and Elaine Przybylka Lieberman, who called their aunt weekly and visited often and there was no restriction at any time. Helen was a second mother to them after their mother passed away at a young age. Helen moved back to Dunmore eight and a half years ago and had a great time living with her loving nephew and caregiver Robert Shutta. She was a long time member of St. Ann’s Novena starting in 1925 and made the Novena every year. Helen lived a full and active life.
She is survived by a sister, Betty Verrastro, Bethlehem, and a brother Frank DiVizio, Dickson City, 50 nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by sisters, Donata M. Shutta, and Lucy Ball, and brothers, George DiVizio and Blaise DiVizio.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, Dec. 23 at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street, in Dunmore. Interment will be private in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Dunmore.
Per Helen’s wishes there are no public calling hours. All those attending the mass are asked to go directly to the church. Arrangements made by the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc.
