NAUGATUCK — Ana M. Teixeira, 66, the wife of Manuel R. Teixeira and the widow of Kenneth Nichols, passed away peacefully on Dec. 22, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Ana was born in Barreiro, Portugal, on March 9, 1949, a daughter of the late Antonio Amador and Aida Silva Amador, she had been a Naugatuck resident for most of her life and was a 42-year employee of Risdon Manufacturing. Ana was an amazing inspiration to everyone who knew her. As a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt or friend, she made time for all. She never hesitated to help those she loved in whatever way she could. Ana loved and cherished her family. Family time together, was precious for her, and usually included a delicious home cooked meal. She especially loved having her family over for dinner every Tuesday in the summer. Above all things, Ana loved taking care of her grandchildren and attending their many school and sporting events. One look at her big smile when she was with them, and you could feel her love for them. Ana also enjoyed traveling, going to dinner, and meeting for coffee with friends. She was an active member of Club Uniao Portuguesa, as well as a member and former president of the Ladies Auxiliary, and was an active member of the Beacon Falls Congregational Church.

In addition to her husband Manny, Ana is survived by her son, Michael Teixeira and his wife Dawn Teixeira of Naugatuck; her daughter, Lisa Swanson and her husband Mark Swanson of Beacon Falls; her three grandchildren, Ryan, Sean and Emma Swanson; her brother, Frank Amador of Naugatuck; her sisters, Fernanda Lopes and Zeza Rodrigues both of Florida; her stepson, Jimmy Nichols; her step-daughters, Kathy Sonntag and her husband Arthur Sonntag of Maine and Elaine Sonntag of Florida; her step-grandchildren, Jessica, Sean and Whitney Nichols, Brian Tranberg, Kimberly Spiegel, Brandy Pinkham, Amanda, Melody and Eric Sonntag, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ana was predeceased by her step-son, David Nichols.

Services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Beacon Falls Congregational Church, 69 Wolfe Ave., Beacon Falls. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave.
