NAUGATUCK — Walter Bodyk, 88, husband of the late Lucy (Berardi) Bodyk, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital VITAS unit.

Walter was born in Jersey City, N.J., on March 31, 1927, son of the late Nicholas and Tekla (Karlak) Bodyk. A lifelong resident of Naugatuck, he retired from Farrell Foundry in Ansonia after many years of service. He had a love for hunting, fishing, hiking and music, and proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Navy.

Mr. Bodyk is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was not only an uncle, but a father figure to Angel and Jody Ash of Prospect, with whom he resided. Walter was a grandfather to Tracy and Jeffery Varesio and Karen and Jason Bouffard and their families. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Mary Biela and Helen Hurt Narramore.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck. Burial with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. Members of the Naugatuck Veterans Council are asked to meet at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
