OXFORD — John J. Holloway, 87, of Oxford, passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015.

John was born in Waterbury, on Feb. 10, 1928, and grew up in Beacon Falls. He was the son of Leo and Stella (Wasnieski) Holloway of Beacon Falls. John proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Japan.

He was a volunteer fireman for the Beacon Hose Company for 26 years and worked for Murtha Enterprises for 48 years. He had a lifelong passion for photography and loved to share his photos with everyone. John could fix anything and was very meticulous in making crafts and keeping his yard beautiful.

John is survived by his longtime companion, Shirley Weymer and children, Lynne Weymer and Bob, Brian and Kelly Weymer and his dog, Bentley; his sisters, Barbara Caron and Carol Buehler; his brothers, Edward Holloway and Thomas Holloway; and many generations of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Jean Nelson and Patricia Betkoski, and his brother, Leo Holloway.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015 at 9 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck, to St. Michael Church, 25 Maple Ave., Beacon Falls, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.
