PROSPECT — Mr. Jay Patrick Garrity, 52, of Prospect died Friday, Nov. 20, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Mr. Garrity was born March 17, 1963 in Waterbury, a son of Bernadette (Poulin) Garrity of Prospect and the late John J. Garrity. He was a self-employed carpenter for many years and was a communicant of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Prospect. He was a former member of the Carpenter’s Union and enjoyed fishing, hiking, carpentry and gardening. Most of all he was a loving and devoted son, father, brother, and friend who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Garrity is survived by a son, John Garrity of Prospect; a brother, David Garrity of Prospect; his fiancée, Irene Greeno of Waterbury; an aunt and many cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Poulin, Sr. and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George V. Garrity.

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will be in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, Nov. 23, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m.
