NAUGATUCK — Janine “Jean” “Tante” Morin Pavao Howard went to meet the Lord and be with her beloved husband Alfred “Al” and Cider, (her son’s dog), on Nov. 20, 2015. Janine was the widow of Alfred Howard of Naugatuck.

She was born July 23, 1936 in Madawaska, Maine, and moved to Connecticut when she was a teenager. She lived in Naugatuck most of her adult life. She was a retiree of the Lewis Engineering Company and Eyelet Crafters.

She is survived by her son, John Pavao and his wife Rose Anne of South Glastonbury; a brother, Roger Morin and sister, Shirley Roy of Maine; several nieces and a nephew and their families.

She was predeceased by a brother and several sisters. She also leaves behind her stepchildren and their families, along with her very close friends and neighbors.

Janine loved her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, her home, and going to restaurants, especially the Curtis House in Woodbury. She was a member of the Red Hatters of Naugatuck and loved being with all the members. She was also a member of the Naugatuck Senior Center where she spent Friday afternoons playing bingo, a game that she was very good at playing. She loved the holidays and was known for her decorating. Every Christmas, she created a beautiful Christmas tree for her family.

The family would to thank Dr. Ralph Tremaglio of Naugatuck and the St. Mary’s Hospital ICU/CCU staff for the wonderful care they provided.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, Nov. 23, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave.
