NAUGATUCK — Smoke testing on the sewer system will be performed Nov. 16 through Dec. 4 throughout the borough.

The purpose of the testing is to locate sources of storm water inflow into the sanitary system. Notices will be posted in neighborhoods were testing will be done 24 to 72 hours before the test will be performed.

During the test, non-toxic white smoke is introduced through the sanitary sewer system. Residents may see white smoke venting from holes in manhole covers and plumbing vent pipes located on or near their roof surface.
