BEACON FALLS — Angela Sevalena Poirier, 64, of Beacon Falls, died peacefully on Oct. 25, 2015 at Griffin Hospital, Derby. Born in Kingston, Jamaica on May 2, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Mercedes Corwell.

Mrs. Poirier immigrated to the U.S. in 1963 and was a longtime resident of Bridgeport. She was a graduate of Bassick High School and Nursing School earning her Registered Nurse designation. Mrs. Poirier worked as an RN for St. Vincent’s Medical Center of Bridgeport for many years before moving to Las Vegas, Nev., in 2005. She returned to Connecticut in 2015 and settled in Beacon Falls to be close to her family. She was a spiritual lady; she enjoyed singing in the choir and the fellowship and community that she found in her church.

She is survived by her devoted children, Alán (Lizbeth Nieves) Morello of Ansonia, Kareem Hedge, Dallas Hedge and Michelle Joyner, all of Bridgeport; sisters, Dalvis and Terra Corwell; brothers, Noel and Robert Corwell, all of Bridgeport; cherished grandchildren, Malán and Amaré Morello of Ansonia and Sevalena Joyner of Bridgeport; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia at a date and time to be announced. The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia is in care of arrangements.
