NAUGATUCK — The warmer weather has brought back the games, rides and food of the St. Francis-St. Hedwig School Spring Carnival.
The carnival is hosted by the St. Francis-St. Hedwig Home School Association. It opens Thursday and runs through Saturday. The carnival is open from 6 to 10 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday on the St. Francis Field on Church Street.
The carnival was revived in 2012 after a five-year hiatus.
“Each year it’s been getting better and better. Last year, we exceeded every expectation. We’re trying to keep that momentum going and do a little better this year,” Home School Association President Nate Hein said.
The carnival will feature rides, vendors and games. The association is selling hotdogs, hamburgers, nachos, fried dough, popcorn and snow cones throughout the carnival.
Hein said in 2014 the carnival raised over $5,000 for the school.
“We’re trying to beat that this year,” Hein said.
All of the money raised from concession sales will go back to the school, Hein said. The money will be used to help keep tuition costs down, purchase books and gym supplies, and offset the cost of the trip at the end of the year.
Hein said aside from supporting the school, the carnival is a great way for the entire town to come together and have a good time.
“It is a great, safe environment and a great event for families,” Hein said.
