NAUGATUCK — The annual St. Patrick’s Day Road Race and Festival has been postponed.

The race was scheduled for Saturday, but has been pushed back to March 21 due to the forecast of poor weather and possible unsafe running conditions, Naugatuck Education Foundation Chairman Matt Fortney announced.

“We hope this switch will provide for better running conditions, a safer course and a more enjoyable atmosphere for all our participants,” Fortney said.

The race features a 5K, 10K, family walk and a Kid’s Fun Run in downtown Naugatuck. The race is a major fundraiser for the NEF, which is a nonprofit organization that raises money to fund specific projects in the public schools that go above and beyond what is currently funded by the Board of Education.
