NAUGATUCK — Naugatuck Valley Savings and Loan will relocate its residential lending department next month from its main office in Naugatuck to a building that houses a branch in Southbury, the bank announced last week.

The new Home Loan Center will move into space adjacent to the bank’s branch at 1570 Southford Road in Southbury.

“We had the space in our Southford office,” William Calderara, the bank’s president and chief executive officer, said. “When the building was originally built, it was designed for a home loan center. … All we’re doing is consolidating some of the back-office operational stuff there too.”

When the new center opens on April 6, it will be staffed by 14 people, he said.

“We still have loan originators in the main office, and some spread out across all of our branch network,” Calderara said. “So customers can still go into any branch if they are looking for a loan.”

The Southbury location, however, will offer all aspects of lending, from loan applications to loan processing to loan servicing, the bank said. Staff in the center will be able to answer any questions customers have about lending, mortgages, rates, and related topics.
