NAUGATUCK — William F. Evans, Jr., passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

Bill was born in Derby, on Jan. 21, 1943, a son of the late William F. Evans, Sr., and Edith (Wilber) Evans, and had lived in Naugatuck for most of his life. Bill worked as an test engineering supervisor for most of his professional career, having retired from Unisys. Bill was an avid stock and option trader, and was also a model train enthusiast. Bill was an accomplished car racer and rallyist, who was a founding member of the Connecticut Autocross and Rally Team (CART). Bill was a proud United States Air Force veteran, who served during the Vietnam War.

Bill is survived by his wife, Dolores (Gallucci) Evans, his daughter and son-in-law, Claudette Evans-Willis and Tim Willis; his brother, Thomas Evans and Anita Evans, his best friend and sister-in-law; his brothers, Robert and Paul Evans and families, his sister-in-law, Anna Marie Reynolds and his friend, Gary.

Bill’s family would like to thank Hale Home Care, Autumn Healthcare At Bucks Hill, Vitas and his private aides, Coleth, Susan, Marty, Dante, Tina and Angeline for the excellent care they provided.

Funeral Services are private. There are no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
