NAUGATUCK — Muriel (Happy) Longo, 94, of Naugatuck, the widow of Edward J. Longo, died peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015 at Glendale Center.

Muriel was born Feb. 20, 1920 in Naugatuck, the youngest daughter of the late Alphonse and Louise (Baummer) Happy, and was a lifelong Naugatuck resident. Muriel was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who loved spending time with her family. Muriel loved to sing, and at a young age, she sang locally and throughout New England, performing with her sisters, Olive and Stella and her brother Joe, as “The Happy Sisters and Brother Joe.”

Muriel is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Bill Stopper of Naugatuck; her son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Denise Longo of Irvine, Calif.; and her son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Roberta Longo of Naugatuck; her brother-in-law, Louis Carosella of Waterbury, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Muriel was predeceased by her seven siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church. 338 North Main St. Friends and relatives may call Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave.
