NAUGATUCK — Guilhermina D. Soares, 83, passed away on Monday, Dec. 29, 2014 at Beacon Brook Health Center.
“Mina” or “Tia Mina,” as most knew her, was born on March 1, 1931 in Escapaes, Vila da Feira, Portugal. She was the daughter of the late Belmiro Pereira Soares and Maria Dias Pereira. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Waterbury and a retiree of Stop and Shop supermarkets.
She will be missed terribly by her brother and sister-in-law, Manuel and Laura Soares of Palm Coast, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law, Marfiza and Manuel Valente of Naugatuck; sister and brother-in-law, Beatriz and Manuel Silva of Flagler Beach, Fla., brother and sister-in-law, Jose and Fernanda Soares of Naugatuck, and brother-in-law, Lino Campos of Portugal. All her nieces and nephews, Isabel Campos and Armindo Sousa, Daniel and Sheila Soares, Michele Valente, Raquel and Frank DeNigris, Richard Soares, Victor and Sofia Silva, Sandra and Carlos Duarte, and Steve and Alicia Soares. She will also be missed by her great-nephews and great-nieces, Alexandre Sousa, Kyle DeNigris, Catarina Duarte, Carolynn Silva, Marianne Silva, Derek DeNigris, Daniel Thomas Soares, Nicholas Soares, Madelynn Silva, Michael Soares and Suzanne Duarte.
She was predeceased by her sister, Maria Julia Campos and her niece, Suzanne C. Soares.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015 at 9 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck, to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin St., Waterbury, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday, Jan.5, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
