BEACON FALLS — Nellie Rose Noren Machno, (Aunt Rose), 92, of Beacon Falls, beloved wife of the late Hnat Machno, passed away peacefully under hospice care at Griffin Hospital on Thursday, July 3, 2014. She was born in Bridgeport, CT on Jan. 27, 1922, the daughter of the late Victor and Nellie Huck Noren.

Rose was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Oxford. She was a graduate of The Gibbs Secretarial School of New York. Rose was a retired claims supervisor for The Travelers Insurance Company. She resided in Beacon Falls for the past nine years and previously resided in Las Vegas, Nev. and Arizona. Rose was an avid UConn Husky basketball fan. She also enjoyed playing pinochle, doing crossword puzzles, needlework, and making floral arrangements. Rose enjoyed her time spent at the Beacon Falls Senior Center. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends and will remain forever in our hearts.

Her loving family includes her two devoted nieces, Lynn Nesshoever of Derby and Janet Edgren and her husband Lars of Beacon Falls; her two loving grand-nieces Christy Edgren of Vermont and Kara Williams of Florida; a caring grand-nephew Eric Edgren of Beacon Falls, and two cherished great grand-nieces Sierra and Isla Williams. Rose was predeceased by her beloved sister Caroline Hadar. Rose’s family wishes to give a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at Griffin Hospital Hospice Unit for their compassionate and excellent care given to Rose during her stay there.

A memorial service in celebration of Rose’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 10 a.m. directly in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 25 Great Hill Road, Oxford, CT 06478, with The Reverend Bruce Steinway, pastor, officiating. Inurnment will take place privately in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield, at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. The Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St., Route 67, Seymour, is caring for the family.

Memorial gifts may be made in Rose’s memory to The Beacon Hose Co. No. 1 or to The Griffin Hospital Development Fund for The Hospice Program, through the funeral home.
