To the editor,

As the time draws near for our departure, we struggle with the right way to reach out to those who have become a part of our extended family over the years. How do we say “Thank you” to the many who have forever touched our lives, and the lives of our children?

Through the schools, sports and our own passions we have been blessed to call some wonderful families friends.

To the staff we encountered at Tender Years, Prospect Street School, Hop Brook Elementary, Hillside and City Hill — the teacher’s and beyond amazing aides that often go unnoticed — we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The bus drivers who safely transported our boys for years, through a number of questionable snowstorms. You all cared for our boys, you taught our boys, and you worked in partnership with us to ensure that they succeeded. You have set the bar high for those to come next fall.

To the amazing families we met throughout our years at Union City Little League, such a solid foundation of friendships came of those years. Wonderful memories on and off the baseball field — Wiffle ball games, ice cream runs, pool parties, you name it. I hope you all know who you are; we love you beyond words. Our children grew up together, siblings played in the distance while their older brothers played on the field and their fathers coached side by side. We will forever treasure those days.

To our Overlook Black Sox family, so many from Naugy and the surrounding towns, these last few years have been full of some pretty amazing baseball and baseball memories. Thank you for joining us for the ride.

To all those baseball, soccer and basketball coaches who gave of their time so that our boys could play sports, make new friends, and even learn a little along the way, we thank you for your dedication and friendships.

To my running community, some of whom are the same wonderful people who taught our boys, I will miss you. You know who you are, from running the Cheshire Trail to downtown Naugy, the Bridle Trail and everything in between. I will cherish those miles we put in together.
So, with heartfelt gratitude we say goodbye for now. We know many of you head south for vacation getaways, you know where to find us. We’ll be expecting you with open arms.
