Candidates set for 17th District race

NAUGATUCK — Democratic incumbent Joseph Crisco has received the nod to run for a 12th term as state senator in the 17th District.

Crisco, a Woodbridge resident, was first elected to office in 1992. Prior to being elected, he worked at United Technologies for 26 years. Crisco currently serves as the chief deputy president pro tempore and the federal relations liaison for the caucus.

The 17th district includes Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Bethany, Derby and parts of Hamden, Naugatuck and Woodbridge.

Republican Phillip Tripp of Ansonia was endorsed to challenge Crisco. Tripp currently serves as the president of the Ansonia Board of Aldermen.

Crisco and Tripp could not be reached for comment.

Election Day is Nov. 4.
