NAUGATUCK — Rides, games and food will help support the borough’s only Catholic school.

The third annual St. Francis-St. Hedwig School Carnival will take place Thursday through Saturday on the St. Francis Field on Church Street.

The carnival, which is hosted by the school’s Home School Association, will be open from 6 to 10 p.m. on June 5 and June 6. It will be open from 2 to 10 p.m. on June 7.

Christina Leahy, vice president of the association, said the carnival will once again feature rides, vendors and games.

The association will once again be hosting the concession stands throughout the carnival, Leahy said. They will sell hotdogs, hamburgers, nachos, fried dough, popcorn and snow cones.

All of the money raised from the sales at the concession stands will go back to the school, Leahy said.

People can either purchase single ride tickets or they can purchase a bracelet for $25 that allows them to go on an unlimited number of rides. The bracelets are good for four hours at a time.

Leahy said the carnival, which was revived two years ago after a long absence, has been very well received and features something for people of all ages.

“The kids can have fun on the rides and the adults can grab some good carnival food,” Leahy said.

The carnival raised approximately $5,000 for the school last year despite rainy weather, according to Leahy.

“We hope to raise as much as we can,” Leahy said. “Hopefully more than last year if the weather cooperates.”
