NEW FAIRFIELD — Wayne D. Butler of New Fairfield passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 20, 2014 at Danbury Hospital from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. He was 77 years of age.

He was the beloved son of the late Daniel and Amy (Giberson) Butler, and he was predeceased by his wife, Carol Wasdo. Mr. Butler was a native of Waterbury and attended local schools. At age 19, Wayne enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and attended school at Scott AFB specializing in ground command equipment repair. Upon completing his studies, Wayne was at Nouasseur Air Force Base, Morocco for his tour of duty. After his discharge, Wayne began a career at IBM, again specializing in equipment mechanics and repair. He would remain with IBM for over 30 years. Although he enjoyed all sports, retirement provided the opportunity for him to pursue his true passion, fishing, which he did over most of the eastern seaboard from Maine to Florida.

Mr. Butler is survived by his beloved sons, Christopher of Warren, and Jason of Asheville, N.C., and his granddaughter, Delaney, also of Asheville, N.C. He is further survived by Linda Testa, with whom he shared a cherished life on Candlewood Isle for over 27 years.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 27 at 1 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery, East Main Street, Waterbury. The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home has been entrusted with his arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163-4777.
