Man charged in burglary cases

NAUGATUCK — A local man has been charged by warrant in connection with four burglaries in Naugatuck.

Police say Daniel Deschaines, 26, of 77 Manners Ave., stole power tools and jewelry from someone and power tools, jewelry and money from another location. He is also accused of stealing collector coins and jewelry from someone and of stealing money from another person. All of the incidents allegedly happened in April.

Deschaines was charged June 18 with four counts of third-degree burglary, four counts of varying degrees of larceny, four counts of second-degree criminal trespass and one count of third-degree criminal mischief.

Police have only placed a dollar value on one of thefts, the theft of power tools, jewelry and money totaled $18,360, police said.

A message left with Naugatuck police spokesman Lt. Bryan Cammarata seeking further information was not returned as of this post.

Deschaines has other pending theft cases out of Cheshire, Southbury, Wolcott and Naugatuck. He is being held in jail on several different bonds. His next court date is scheduled for July 17.
