PROSPECT — Mrs. Bernice M. (Hampston) Wilson, 85, of Prospect, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 17, 2014 in the VITAS Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was the widow ofWilliam Wilson.

Mrs. Wilson was born in Waterbury on Feb. 21, 1929 a daughter of he late Frank and Mildred (Horton) Hampston. She was retired after working for many years at the Meloria Children’s Hospital in Prospect and at Waterbury Hospital. She also worked for many years at Neal’s Pharmacy in Prospect. She was a member of the Prospect Congregational Church, the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for 60 years and the Happy Hookers of Prospect. She enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, and crafting.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by two sons, James Wilson and his wife Robbin of Prospect and Kenneth Wilson of Prospect; a brother, Ronald Hampston of Waterbury; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Wendy Pinto; two sisters, Alice Connor and Lorraine Pace and a brother, Lyman Hampston.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterbury. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
