PROSPECT — Nearly 120 American flags were put up this past weekend throughout the center of Prospect to honor current and former military members.

The display, which is up for the third year, is sponsored by the Prospect Flag Fund. The flags were put up with the help of local resident Bill Fonti and a donated truck and crew from Ed the Tree Man.

“Without their help the display would not be up, Ed gives his trucks whenever I ask, giving back to the town comes naturally to some,” said Robert Hiscox, a Prospect resident and founder of the Prospect Flag Fund, in a press release.

Future plans call for more flags to be added with the next set running down Route 69 to the site of the new Prospect Elementary School, Hiscox said. Residents and businesses wishing to help maintain the display can send donations to The Prospect Flag Fund, Prospect Town Hall, 36 Center St., Prospect, CT 06712. A collection will also take place at Oliver’s Supermarket on Flag Day, June 14.
