NAUGATUCK — A fire in a two-family house Friday morning caused extensive damage to one apartment and smoke damage to the neighboring unit, displacing several residents, fire officials said.

Fire Chief Ken Hanks said the cause of the fire at 13 Washington St., has not yet been determined. It was confined to that apartment and extensively damaged the living room, but only caused smoke damage to 11 Washington St. next door, he said.

A woman and her son who live at 13 Washington St. were displaced by the fire, and a man who lived next door was also displaced, Hanks said.

No one was injured.
