Gettysburg College

GETTYSBURG, Pa. — Dayna Seeger of Naugatuck was named to the Dean’s Honor List

at Gettysburg College for the fall 2013 semester.

Fairfield University

FAIRFIELD — Lorena Gullotta of Naugatuck and Amy Salazar of Prospect were named to the Dean’s List at Fairfield University after spending the fall 2013 semester studying abroad.

Dietz named NE-10 Rookie of the Week

COLCHESTER, Vt. — St. Michael’s College men’s tennis player Patrick Dietz, a Prospect resident and graduate of Woodland Regional High School, was named Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week for the week ending on April 20.

Dietz went 2-0 at No. 6 singles during the week. He downed a foe from Saint Anselm College, 6-0, 6-0, April 14 before rallying for a 2-6, 6-2, 10-8 victory over an opponent from Assumption College April 17. Dietz completed his rookie campaign with a 3-1 singles mark, including a perfect 3-0 showing in NE-10 play.

Tokarski inducted into Phi Kappa Phi

BATON ROUGE, La. — The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi announced that Kristin Tokarski of Naugatuck was recently initiated into Phi Kappa Phi.

Tokarski is pursuing a degree in neuroscience at University of Connecticut.

Membership is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors, having at least 72 semester hours, are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff, and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

Starkey inducted into Gold Key Honor Society

BOSTON, Mass. — Samantha Starkey of Beacon Falls was one of 83 Emerson College students inducted into the Gold Key Honor Society on April 22.

Starkey is a junior majoring in writing, lit and publishing.

Students inducted into the Gold Key Society must have completed 48 credits with the college and juniors must be in the top 5 percent of their class.

Velky earns service award

KEENE, N.H. — Elizabeth Velky of Naugatuck was among the winners of Keene State College’s Outstanding Senior Service Award.

The award recognizes senior students for unselfish service to the college or the community, outstanding leadership, major contributions to the improvement of the quality of student life and exceptional or unique contributions to the college.

Local students make honor roll

FAIRFIELD — Local students Chelsea Ortiz, Raina Ceryak and Jae Min Ahn have been named to the honor roll at Notre Dame High School for the third marking period.

Ortiz made high honors. Ceryak and Min Ahn made honors.

Russo inducted into honor society

EASTON, Mass. — Naugatuck resident Morgan Russo, a student at Stonehill College, was recently inducted into the Kappa Mu Epsilon Honor Society.

The Kappa Mu Epsilon Honor Society recognizes academic achievement in mathematics.
