NAUGATUCK — Noreen Mae (Kirlin) Pysz, 81, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Glendale Health Center after a long illness.

Noreen was born in Smyrna, Maine on Jan. 13, 1933, a daughter of the late Augustin and Vivian (Collier) Kirlin. She attended public schools in Houlton, Maine. She had several occupations while living in the Naugatuck area. She was a nanny, a housekeeper, an office worker, a nurse’s aide and a factory worker. However, Noreen will be remembered most for her final years at Glendale when she sat with dying patients and held their hand and comforted them, and let them know they were not alone when they passed on.

Mrs. Pysz is survived by her children, James Mayo and Patricia (Mayo) Summa, both of Waterbury, Barbara (Mayo) Lokatos of Naugatuck, and Jean Mayo of Stratham, N.H. She is also survived by her siblings, Geraldine (Kirlin) Scott, Carol (Kirlin) Bell, both of Houlton, Maine, James Kirlin of Glenburn, Maine, and Dan Kirlin. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Richard Kirlin.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Glendale Health Center for their kindness and excellent care given to Noreen throughout her illness.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 338 North Main St., Naugatuck. Everyone is asked to meet at the church at 9:45 a.m. The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck is assisting the family with arrangements.
