Reg16PROSPECT — A parent share evening will be held next week for parents of Community and Algonquin schools students to learn about the new administrative makeup for the schools.

The two schools will be merged into one when the new Prospect Elementary School opens in the fall of 2015. In anticipation of the new school opening, Jeffrey Haddad has been hired by the Region 16 Board of Education as assistant principal for Community and Algonquin schools. Haddad replaced former Community School Principal Joe Nuzzo, who retired earlier this month. Rima McGeehan, who was the principal of Algonquin School, is now principal of both schools. McGeehan will be principal of the new school and Haddad will be the assistant principal.

To ensure a smooth merger between the two schools, both administrators are spending time in each school and joint faculty meetings are being held.

On Dec. 5 a meeting will be held for parents to meet with McGeehan and Haddad, ask questions and address any concerns. The meeting will be held in the cafeteria of Algonquin School from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Anyone who plans to attend the meeting is asked to call Algonquin School at (203) 758-4408 or Community School at (203) 758-6674 to let staff know for planning purposes.
