NAUGATUCK — The borough is holding an informational meeting on the proposed project to reconstruct Cross Street.

The meeting will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in Town Hall.

The project is in the concept stage and maybe recommended for construction under the Surface Transportation Program administered by the Connecticut Department of Transportation. If approved, the project will be designed by the borough.

The project will reconstruct about 4,150 feet of Cross Street from Exit 25 on Route 8 to its approach to New Haven Road. The project will include full-depth reconstruction, horizontal and vertical realignments, widening to a uniform 30-foot roadway width, new storm drainage system, curbing, retaining walls, sidewalks, guiderails and the realignment of the Cross Street and Cotton Hollow Road intersection.

Based upon a preliminary assessment, the project’s cost will be approximately $5,150,000. It is anticipated that the Federal Highway Administration will provide 80 percent of the cost with the state providing 10 percent and the borough paying 10 percent.
