Work of Middlebury artist featured at Whittemore

NAUGATUCK — The Whittemore Library is featuring the artwork of Middlebury resident Sue Healy this month.

Healy has been painting and drawing all her life. She has been a student of a variety of disciplines including illustration, printmaking, graphic design, portraiture and life study and Adobe programs, according to a release issued by the library.

She holds both AA and BFA degrees from Napa College in California and Christopher Newport University in Virginia as well as a degree in art education. Additionally, she has studied at the masters level at Fontbonne College in Missouri.

Healy has held a number of positions throughout her career including director of the arts and crafts program in Gieblestadt, Germany and illustrator for the Wurzburg Army Hospital, also in Germany. When she returned to the United States, she taught in both private and public schools in Virginia, Missouri and Connecticut.

Healy has also written and illustrated the book, “24 Crows” and the “Walking Tree,” and she is currently working on two more.

This month’s exhibit can be viewed on the Whittemore Gallery Wall during regular library hours. The library is located at 243 Church St. For more information, call (203) 729-4591.
